We’re avid readers here at South Texas Promotions, knowing that the fresh insights we gain will help push our careers forward. Here are a few books that we’ve read over and over again as we chase our highest professional targets.
“The Innovator’s Dilemma” by Clayton M. Christensen is known as the only business book that deeply influenced Steve Jobs. The fact that Apple’s resurgence began right around the time it was published in 1997 seems to back up that claim. It’s an essential read for anyone interested in what disruptive business innovation can achieve.
Dropbox CEO Drew Houston is a big fan of Sam Walton’s autobiography, which is titled “Sam Walton: Made in America.” We’ve become admirers of it around the South Texas Promotions office, both for its candid style and for the compelling story of how Walton took his company to such incredible heights of success.
A more recent addition to our reading list is “The Road to Character” by David Brooks. It’s also a favorite of PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, who said the book “…sparked a wonderful discussion with my two daughters about why building inner character is just as important as building a career.”
We pick up these renowned books when we need an extra bit of career inspiration. Find more of our best career advancement insights by following South Texas Promotions on Newswire.
