05 Aug 10 Tips to be a Great Manager from South Texas Promotions
Being a great manager is no easy task, but luckily, we at South Texas Promotions know what it takes and we’re here to help. We have a number of values that all our team members stick to, and all of our managers abide by the same concepts.
The first thing we would suggest if you wish to become a better manager is to keep your cool and have a sense of humor. Nobody likes a manager who gets angry and doesn’t have a laugh once in a while. It’s important to be able to recognize and deal with challenges, but to also be able to focus on solutions and avoiding the same problems in the future. This kind of optimism rubs off and can help a team dramatically.
It’s also important to behave like a peer, even though you’re the boss. Let’s face it; working with a boss can prove to be challenging – so it’s important to be one of the team. A team will respect you if you actively get involved and work alongside your team, instead of just telling them what to do. This is also great for you as it allows you to better monitor the proceedings.
Compliment strengths and complement weaknesses. If somebody is good at something, then be sure to congratulate them and reward them for their hard work. If, however, somebody is not so great at a particular task then you must complement their abilities by pairing them with someone who can help them improve. By ensuring that team members complement one another, you can ensure that the ultimate goal is achieved.
